Mister Kabab

We had lunch out one Sunday with a group of friends and came back to one of the cheaper restos along Quezon Avenue. Mister Kabab is one of my favorite (and cheaper) mediteranean food. I've dined here several times already but I think this was Tots' first.

The Place. The restaurant is open so be prepared about the noise of passing cars since it's along a busy street. It may be very humid at times so we suggest wearing some loose clothes when dining there.

The Food. I always order this dish called Chicken Chelo Kebab 'coz it tastes so good! It has two strips of ground chicken kebabs, two grilled tomatoes and a cup of rice topped with a slice of butter. If you are one of those health buffs, you may want to skip the butter. The best way to eat it is to mash your tomatoes and mix 'em up with the buttered rice. To add flavor add some white garlic sauce and a dash of their own red chili sauce. Mix them all up again and eat til your heart's content!

Tots ordered a shawarma dish (I forgot what they call it). It's the typical shawarma, with slices of cucumber, onions and tomatoes, but served on a plate and separate from the wrap.

Mister Kabab is a nice place to dine either for lunch or dinner. The food tastes good and the price is very affordable, ranging from 70 to 130 pesos on the main entrees.

Mt. Tarak, Bataan

Mt. Tarak is one of Nobs' more challenging climbs. The trail consists of varying terrains and landscapes. You intially walk through an unpaved roadway from the jump-off point to the DENR station. From there, you'll come across steep terrain with loose/dry soil. At some point the trail will descend slightly along boulders of loose rocks. You'll also experience repelling a few feet before proceeding. You don't need any harnesses though since some nice dudes already installed a rope for the descent. At the end of the trail is a waterfall where you'll most likely have your lunch. Now comes the hardest part. From the falls, an assault (not yet to the summit) takes at least two (2) hours of painstaking climb using your hands and feet. Most of the time you'll grab on to tree branches and roots so a good pair of gloves is advisable. Half-way to the summit is the camp site. Unfortunately on our way there, we were tortured by strong wind, heavy rain and cold weather. So don't forget your ponchos and jackets to keep you warm and dry. By early morning the weather was still bad so we opted to defer the summit assault. But overall, it was a great experience and it was a lot of fun! ;P
